Alison Mau has been shifted from TVNZ's Breakfast show and replaced by Liz Gunn.
Mau, who is expecting her second child in March, has been moved to accommodate her family commitments.
Her duties will now include reading the One News weekend bulletins with husband Simon Dallow, sharing presenting duties on a new TVNZ 6 am bulletin and occasionally reading the Breakfast news.
Mau said she and Dallow had pushed for the changes and were happy with the decision.
She said that although it was a difficult decision to leave Breakfast, "a job I really love," the new hours would give the couple more family time.
"We have been for quite a while now trying to find a way where we could have some time together as a family. This way we get to work together and get two days off together," she said.
The 6 am summary of local and international news will be shared among Mau, Dallow, Kate Hawkesby and Peter Williams.
It will be followed by a replay of Te Karere from the previous night before Telstra Business at 6.30 am.
Gunn, TVNZ's weekend newsreader, will join Mike Hosking on Breakfast when it returns on January 22.
TVNZ presenters have recently had salary cuts of 20 to 30 per cent.
One News managing editor Paul Cutler said Mau's move would reunite her with Dallow in a "more suitable timezone that will provide them with a greater opportunity to deal with their new family commitments."
