It has been a week since Viva launched its new website and Premium offering, and already there have been dozens of stories that have got people talking, from the questions you always wanted to ask about botox, to the much-anticipated list of the top 50 restaurants in Auckland.
In thisbonus episode of the NZ Herald podcast, Viva Talks, Viva editor Amanda Linnell is joined by deputy editor Johanna Thornton, commercial editor Emma Gleason, and creative director Dan Ahwa to discuss how Viva Premium came about, what it means for the magazine going forwards, and offer a deep dive and behind-the-scenes secrets into some of the biggest stories that have emerged over the past week.
“It’s all about taking Viva to the next level,” Linnell said. “We’ve always been at the forefront of change and pushing boundaries, and we’re really excited to take Viva to this next level - launching a whole new beautiful website, and offering a subscription base platform which allows us to bring greater content [and] spend more time on bigger stories.”
“What I love about it is it values the work of the people behind the scenes,” Ahwa added.
And Thornton offers the behind-the-scenes insight into how the Top 50 restaurant list came together, including why judges Jesse Mulligan and Albert Cho had to justify some of their more surprising inclusions.
Plus, they discuss the latest issue of Viva, available in the New Zealand Herald today, which offers plenty of Christmas recipes and ideas ahead of the holiday season.
