The Duke of York told a royal fan the secret to staying warm is standing on a newspaper.
Prince Andrew, 62, offered the advice amid Britain’s cost of living crisis on a surprise appearance at Sandringham after he attended Christmas Day church service with senior royals.
Video of the royalfamily mingling with the public showed the duke stop and ask a woman standing with her dog: “Cold feet?”
When she replied “freezing”, he told her: “Did you know the trick is to bring a newspaper? Stand on a newspaper and you insulate your feet.”
The stunned dog owner said “thank you” before the late Queen Elizabeth’s son walked away with his hands in his pockets.
An onlooker, 34, who filmed the exchange told the Sun: “The whole thing was really odd. Andrew stopped in front of us and blurted out the most bizarre advice about keeping warm.
”I don’t imagine the woman will be testing his theory anytime soon.”

The clip was filmed as the royals walked back from their first Christmas service since the death of the Queen on September 8 aged 96 at her Balmoral estate. Andrew’s older brother King Charles, 74, and Queen Consort Camilla, 75, were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 40, and their children, George, 9, Charlotte, 7 and 4-year-old Louis.
The Sun reported on December 23 Andrew had been “thrown out” of Buckingham Palace by Charles as he will apparently no longer be allowed an office in the building or to use it as a correspondence address.
It follows Andrew’s multimillion-pound payout in February to settle a US civil sex assault case brought by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking victims Virginia Giuffre, 39, who said he had sex with her when she was a teenager. The duke made no admission of liability.
