Britain's bad boy of pop Robbie Williams touched down in Christchurch late last night, and was greeted by a die-hard mob of fans.
Dozens gathered at Christchurch International Airport to catch a glimpse of their pop hero. With a bow and a wave Williams said: "Thanks for coming - see you
tomorrow."
The prize for the most devoted fan has to go to Sue McIlquham from Manchester, England, who has seen Williams perform live 75 times.
The 32-year-old has travelled alone from Britain to see all four of Williams' New Zealand concerts.
"When I heard he (Williams) was taking a year off at the end of this tour, it was like blind panic," she said. "This way it will make the time go faster before I see him again."
Ms McIlquham said it was too frightening to work out how much money she had spent on Williams' concerts.
"Most of the band know me and my friends by name, but we're not groupies and it's not an obsession or maybe it is," she said.
"I'm not actually attracted to him, but I could listen to his music forever." Both Christchurch concerts sold out months ago, but for those with unlimited funds the odd elusive ticket is still available.
Williams is giving two concerts in Christchurch, and one each in Auckland and Wellington.
