The owner of an Adelaide fish and chip shop has posted an emotional sign announcing the store's closure - and they didn't hold back when revealing the exact reason they were shutting.
Pimpala Fish n Grill in Old Reynella closed their doors at the end of last month, leaving a very pointed final message to the community.
"Due to the lack of local community support for this small business we will be closing the doors on March 31st 2019," a sign stuck to the door read.
"We wish to thank our loyal customers for their past patronage."
The message then reflected on the harsh reality of trying to own a small business.
"The shop may reopen if they can find someone else that wants to lose their life savings," the sign read.
The owner of the store, Terry Barlow, confirmed the closure on Facebook, thanking those who had supported him.
"I really do appreciate your patronage but moreover, your friendship," he wrote.
"I am sad that this part of my life has ended but it is something I need to do."
A picture of the sign was posted to the S**tAdelaide Instagram page and people has mixed feelings about the blunt sign.
Many social media users were sympathetic to the small business.
"Pays to shop local and support small business," one person said.
"Whatever the circumstances, this is very sad. We hope they are ok and good luck to them moving forward," another wrote.
Others weren't as impressed by the sassy sign.
"I dunno, that kind of 'someone else's fault attitude in the sign could be half the problem," someone wrote
Another added: "Maybe the shops food wasn't up to standard or they weren't doing enough to bring customers in. Sorry but blaming lack of community support is a cop out."
