A 17-year-old girl who met her doppelganger at a San Diego mall has now received photos of at least four other people bearing a striking resemblance to her.
Santana Gutierrez, who graduated high school early and is now a student at UC San Diego, went to Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego in September. There, a young woman named Isobel approached her to raise funds for Save The Children.
But as Isobel delivered her pitch, Santana could only think about how they both looked exactly the same. The pair took a picture together, which Santana tweeted - and that tweet was still receiving replies as of last week, Daily Mail reports.
Other Twitter users have taken Santana's striking encounter to the next level and have sent her photos of other girls and women who look incredibly similar to her. Santana now has at least four extra known doppelgangers.
Fashion Valley Mall wasn't the closest mall to Santana's home, but she told BuzzFeed News she picked it because it had an Apple Store.
Her decision led to her serendipitous meeting with Isobel.
"I kind of felt bad 'cause I wasn't listening to what she was saying - all I was thinking was, 'This girl looks exactly like me,'" Santana told the website.
She and Isobel took a picture together and exchanged their contact details. Santana shared the photo on Twitter, saying she had met her "literal doppelgänger just now".
Her message has been retweeted more than 22,000 times - and has led to more striking discoveries.
Another user followed up on Santana's tweet, sending a photo of another young girl looking just like the 17-year-old.
This girl, Ally Holt, has the same long brown hair, brown eyes and a similar smile to Santana's.
Santana said she was "freaked out" when she saw Ally's photo on her feed and showed it to her parents, who told her she and Ally were not related.
Someone else responded to the first photo of Ally with another picture, again showing a young woman with the same long brown hair and smile as Santana's.
Another Twitter user took it even further by unearthing a photo of a second lookalike, calling her Santana's "triplet".
Others also pointed out a definite resemblance between Santana and two actresses: 22-year-old Samantha Boscarino, who starred in Nickelodeon's How To Rock, and 16-year-old Auli'i Cravalho, who voices Moana in the Disney movie of the same name.
