An African-American waitress at an American restaurant was shocked to receive a message on her receipt that complimented her service without offering a tip.
The server, Kelly Carter, was waiting on two white people at Anita's restaurant in Ashburn, Virginia - a local New Mexico-style restaurant.
The diners left a racist message instead of a tip, which said: "great service don't tip Black people."
Loudoun County NAACP tweeted a photo of the receipt, stressing that "hatred will not be tolerated".
Ms Carter told NBC Washington she was in "total shock".
"I looked at the receipt three times because I was so shocked, never ever being a server have I seen that," she said.
The restaurant's manager, Tom Tellez, told FoxDC: "It's appalling, disheartening, outrageous - all of the above."
