Libby Crawford has just welcomed a new addition to her family - a bonny black Labrador pup called Malo.
The Christchurch-resident winner of The Block New Zealand says these summer holidays are going to be a little different as she and her partner factor in the 4-month-old purebred during trips away.
Fortunately for the talented graphic designer of creative agency Libby and Ben, Malo shows signs of adoring travel.
"He seems to love it and already recognises going in the car means going out and about for an adventure," says Crawford.
"And he's taking quite naturally to the 'putting his head out the window' trick."
Crawford says they will be taking him on road trips around the South Island, including staying at her parents' holiday home in Queenstown, where Malo would get his first swim in Lake Wakatipu.
Crawford, who teamed up with brother Ben in the high-rating home renovation television show and started their agency after the show had finished, says Malo's name is a Samoan greeting, chosen after a trip to the Pacific island last year.
She said it was a perfect fit for a dog that was always looking for attention and coming up and saying "hello, hello".
