Barry Levinson revisits his Baltimore, 1954, youth (setting for Diner, Tin Man, Avalon, Homicide: Life On The Streets) yet again in a film that looks at Jewish teenagers and their efforts to be accepted in a Middle American community, asking questions like: "Is it kosher for a Jewish kid to go to a Halloween party as Hitler?"

A little self-conscious, a little contrived, but solid work from a premier film-maker.
