The seven actors who played screen siblings in The Sound Of Music have been reunited for the first time since the film was released 35 years ago. The original von Trapp children were brought together in Salzburg, Austria, for a documentary about their experiences making the musical.
The actors, who wereaged between 5 and 21 when they last saw one another, re-enacted the lyrics and choreography of Doh-Ray-Me for the show, to be shown on British television at Christmas.
The Sound Of Music won five Oscars and earned £600 million ($2.1 billion) at the box office.
Angelic sound sells
The theme tune for the movie Charlie's Angels went straight to No 1 in the BBC Radio 1 singles chart yesterday. The song, Independent Woman, by American female pop trio Destiny's Child, knocked LeAnn Rimes' Can't Fight the Moonlight off the top slot.
The Houston-based band has previously enjoyed chart success with Say My Name and Jumpin Jumpin.
Charlie's Angels, starring Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore, has taken the US box office by storm and is expected to do the same in Britain. The film opens in New Zealand on Thursday.
We wrote the songs, okay?
Sir Elton John and Oscar-winning lyricist Don Black are among songwriters backing a campaign to persuade the public that free systems such as Napster could kill off the music industry as we know it.
They are behind a move to raise awareness of the harm that internet file-sharing programs can do by depriving writers of their livelihood. British Music Rights - a body set up to represent writers and composers - wants to hammer home the message with its Respect The Value Of Music campaign to be launched today.
Napster allows computer-users to swap digitally stored music on their machines with others who have the program installed on their systems.
