Renee Zellweger, who won a Golden Globe for best comedy actress this week, is brushing up a British accent for Bridget Jones' Diary, starring opposite Hugh Grant.
The Brits are in an uproar about the American trying a British accent in the romance film but Grant says: "I think she's doing a fine job with it, and it's going to be believable."
Zellweger says: "Well, that's sweet of him to say, but we'll see what they think."
* Golden globe winner Kate Hudson has talked for the first time about married life.
In a spur-of-the-moment decision, she married her long-time boyfriend Chris Robinson, the front man for the band Black Crowes.
"Married life is wonderful. I never thought that I would find my husband this early in my life, but I did, and it's kind of amazing," Hudson said.
Since their wedding on New Year's Eve, the couple have had no time to find a proper place to live, or even have a honeymoon.
* Pregnant ex-Coronation Street star Denise Welsh has revealed how she and husband Tim Healy conceived the baby they are expecting.
In an interview with Hello magazine the 42-year-old actress who played Rovers Return landlady Natalie Barnes, said she had been in Amsterdam filming for the series Soldier Soldier. Healy, who starred in TV series Auf Wiedersehen Pet, had flown out to join her.
She said: "I was feeling a bit dodgy earlier in the day so I didn't fancy dinner. So we did a bit of red light district in the afternoon and stayed at the hotel in the evening to practise what we had seen."
