The second album from the man whose Travis-like Amazing has been swooning all over the airwaves, is a hearty affair - a singer-songwriter album which translates nicely to a pop-rock widescreen.
And thankfully that hit single - which can get on one's wick
after a few listens - has more interesting company among the 11 tracks.
Soul-folk opener Everybody's Laughing solidifies Lloyd's status as Australia's answer to David Gray, the Beatles/Crowded House-shaped Green jangles neatly from major to minor, while Downtown melodically quotes the Fabs' You've Got to Hide Your Love Away along its way.
Among the rest is a close cousin to Amazing in the ballad Bus Ride, and proof that Lloyd isn't doing angst-for-angst's-sake - it's smarter, heart-on-the-sleeve, sensitive-bloke pop.
