1. Matiatia Wharf Ocean View Rd, Waiheke
A lovely picturesque wharf, and the starting point for a walk heading through the Matiatia Historic Reserve, around the waterfront to Cable Bay.
2. Sandy Bay Wharf Rakino Island
Kids love jumping off the wharf in Sandy Bay. Afterwards, set up shop for a barbecueat the picnic tables under pohutukawa trees, just above the golden sand beach itself.
Not great for swimming, but perfect for kayaking. The Puhoi Historical wharf is one of the wharves and jetties linking Auckland with the coastal communities of Rodney. The old Puhoi pub is in close reach, too.
4. Herne Bay Wharf Herne Bay Road, Herne Bay
A nice, inner-city wharf that's suitable to jump off at 2.6m at the lowest. Admire the cute old boat shed and forget the hustle and bustle is just minutes away.
