Three weeks after he gave birth, the first photos of Thomas Beatie - who came to worldwide attention as the Pregnant Man - and his baby daughter have been published in People magazine.
Beatie is believed to be the first legally transgender male in the world to givebirth.
His daughter, Susan Juliette, was born in Oregon on June 29 after a 40-hour labour.
In his first interview since the birth, Beatie told People he could not stop staring at the new arrival.
"When Susan finally came out, it was like in slow motion," he said.
"I was full of wonder."
Beatie's wife Nancy was at his side during the birth.
The couple have been together since Beatie's sex-change operation 10 years ago.
Nancy had previously had a hysterectomy but Beatie was able to conceive as he had opted to retain his female reproductive organs at the time of his sex change operation.
He stopped taking testosterone and began the process of artificial insemination once his menstrual cycle had resumed.
People said both Beatie and his daughter were in good health and the family was adjusting well to its new schedule.
"I weigh two pounds less than I did before I got pregnant," Beatie told the magazine.
"And I don't have a single stretch mark!"
Although Beatie gave birth to Susan, Nancy has taken on the role of breastfeeding, using hormones and a breast pump to stimulate lactation.
A source told website gawker.com that Beatie was reportedly paid US$300,000 (NZ$403,807) for the exclusive baby photos of Susan.
