Swirling prints on furniture fabrics and the colours of spices provide an exotic escape for autumn.
It's already been 10 years since Nicholas Ghesquiere showcased one of his more iconic collections for Balenciaga, the Fall 2007 show a diaphanous display of colour and print, with models looking as if they'd gathered their trinkets and belongings at a festival in Marrakesh, then trundled off to the nextexotic locale - all perfectly set to a climatic soundtrack of Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song.
The "global traveller" is a fashion trope so often explored, but this season several designers have revisited the story and become intoxicated by the kind of colours and prints inspired by the ancient Silk Road. It's a twist on classic autumnal hues and touches on this season's favourite sunny tones of ochre and copper.
Like shades of falling autumn leaves, these particular tones have more kick, and provide an easy segue into looking warm for the season.
