From Alexander Wang's mod-style striped skivvies to the classic striped tops at Michael Kors, the international pre-winter collections highlighted an emphasis on the classic stripe print while re-working that preppy wardrobe item and styling it with tough leather separates and sporty accessories.
Hedi Slimane's striped tops for both men andwomen offer up plenty of inspiration, re-working the classic print season after season with a typically rebellious attitude.
For both men and women, an emphasis on traditional Breton stripes popularised by French naval uniforms before the turn of the 20th century and, of course, Coco Chanel's nautical-inspired collection from 1917 has come full circle once again.
Today, the stripe print continues to provide plenty of inspiration as the perfect trans-seasonal layering piece whether for work or for weekend, with several local designers utilising classic black and white/navy and white colour combinations on easy to wear dresses and lightweight tops.
