Feast, Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park, 161 Elizabeth St
I arrived… on a muggy and rainy Thursday afternoon and was led to a window table looking across to Hyde Park and its purple jacaranda. Two silver bowls sat in the centre of the table, one for the crustacean shells tocome, the other to dip my fingers in.
I chose here because… I was staying at the hotel and staff recommended the appropriately named Feast, which has been open for decades and was almost full with a mix of tourists and locals.
My first impression was… a sense of anticipation as I stole a glance at the seafood end of the buffet on the way to my table - laden with jonah and blue swimmer crabs, Sydney rock oysters, vannamei prawns, champagne lobsters and much more.
The highlight of the night was... the huge buffet catered for everyone, with a range of salads, sushi, cured meats and breads, pork belly, beef stew, etc, etc. But buffet dining requires some strategy and mine was, simply, seafood. Cracking open the crab meant an enforced slow-down amid several plates of kai moana. Filling up on oysters was a new and welcome sensation.

Dessert was... entirely unnecessary but impossible to go past given the huge variety on offer. I settled on panna cotta, custard cake and icecream. Sprinkled with jaffas. My stomach at this point held an interesting mix.
Come here if... you love seafood. And if you are travelling with someone who doesn't, Feast has plenty for them, too.
