Designer and TV personality Alex Perry is as well-known across the ditch as the glamorous, high-profile women he dresses.
One of Australia's most iconic fashion designers, Alex Perry's signature is all-out glamour, with his red carpet gowns and celebrity front rows. Since launching his label in the 1990s, he has gone on to become an Australian fashion personality - appearing as a judge on Australia's Next Top Model and Project Runway Australia, and outfitting the likes of Miranda Kerr, Megan Gale and Charlotte Dawson. He also recently released a new collection of glasses for Specsavers, with dramatic Victorian and Oriental influences. His own style is suitably glamorous, with a current penchant for Tom Ford suits. He gives Viva a peek into his stylish world.
Ultimate luxury is ... Travelling around the world.
The most glamorous woman I know ... I can't pinpoint one, there are so many. Women all have their own particular brand of glamour and style, and it never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I revel in it, love to watch them, be around them and take inspiration from them.
My earliest fashion memory ... An aunt of mine, Jenny, she was so beautiful, so well-dressed. I remember her in a black pencil skirt, high black stilettos and a cashmere knit. So chic!
The most treasured item in my wardrobe ... Last year I bought my first Tom Ford suit. The cut is impeccable, I feel like a movie star when I wear it. I've never spent that much money on a suit before, but it was something I did to reward myself. I figured I deserved it.
My most recent fashion purchase ... I just bought some Thom Browne shirts online at Barney's New York. Best shirts ever! They should arrive any day now .... soooo excited.
Next I want to buy ... A dark navy Tom Ford suit.
I think every guy needs a killer black suit, two-button, slim-cut, in his wardrobe. They make you look and feel expensive.
My favourite stylish places ... I love the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. Like my suit, it makes me feel like a movie star.
My highest moment ... Every time I'm with [wife] Mary, my family and the people I love.
My ultimate muse has to be my wife Mary. She is instinctively the most glamorous woman I know. Even in old jeans and a ponytail, there is something beautiful and glamorous about her.
I collect ... I don't understand collecting things. I'm not that attached to objects.
I'm at my happiest when ... I'm with the people I love, when they make me laugh, when I'm sharing things with them. It's all about your family, closest friends and love.
