Address: Exchange Lane, 95 Queen St
Rating:
First drinks: A knowledgeable barman had some good recommendations for my whiskey-loving companion. My Aperol Spritz, however, was in an extra-large glass of ice, killing any flavour.
The vibe is: Dead on a Wednesday evening. There are less than 10 people here and no one in the Nook bar, which you pass through to get to the bathrooms, adding to the ghost-town vibe.
The toilets: feature high-quality fixtures but are poorly maintained: A loo roll was left resting on the bench as there was no dispenser.
On the stereo: Generic house music which exacerbates the soulessness.
Room for improvement: The sparse furniture, cheap chandeliers and dated purple lighting do nothing for the atmosphere. It has the potential to be a destination bar but needs an injection of character and soul.
Most redeeming feature: The barman was easily the best thing about this place but it can't be long until someone else snaps him up.
