Address: 43 Tyler Street, Auckland CBD
Rating:
First drinks: took some pondering from a cocktail list of few standout choices. We settled on an Old Fashioned and The Pan Am, which were expertly whipped up by a very competent, if slightly disinterested, bartender.
The vibe is: low-key and low maintenance. It's industrial chic with a Tokyo twist.
The toilets are: Lemony fresh.
On the stereo: Dated downbeat hip hop. Imagine Khuja Lounge circa 2005.
Room for improvement: Mounting the bar stools required careful negotiation (even before drinks) and they have a tendency to send you sliding off.
The perfect spot: if you fancy a drink in Britomart but don't want a beer barn.
Most redeeming feature: is a decent selection of Japanese wine, beer, and whiskey. Plus, an excellent food menu. Nom.
