First drinks have got to be beers at this Belgian Beer Cafe. My plus one picked Leffe Brune ($14) and I decided on Delirium Tremens ($16.50).
The vibe is European-style brew house. While the old Mt Eden Post Office oozes plenty of character, the staff lacked charm.
The toilets are upstairs - a couple of clean cubicles with slightly shaky latch doors.
On the stereo was the same sappy pop music we've heard at so many other bars.
Room for improvement Service at the bar was fast, but since it wasn't busy it might have been nice to sit down before ordering tableside. It felt kind of impersonal and lacked any real sentiment to draw us back.
The perfect spot for beer connoisseurs looking for an extensive beer list. A sunny day in the courtyard or out the front people watching on Mt Eden Road would be your best bet.
Most redeeming feature has got to be all the beer we keep banging on about, plus a pretty good loyalty card and $6 mulled wine during winter.
