First drinks: Were a hard choice. The drinks menu boasts more than 100 craft beers and several wine and cocktail options. We picked a pint of Mike's Chocolate Milk Stout and a Blood and Sand cocktail - which tasted exactly like the name.
The vibe: Was cheery for a rainySaturday lunchtime. A live band was due to play later that evening and a few football fans had arrived pre-Fifa U20 finals. The staff were efficient and bubbly as they took our orders.
The bathrooms: Differed significantly between the lads and the ladies. The men's taps apparently ran for three seconds or less and a cloth roller towel was broken leaving a trail of fabric on the floor. The ladies' extends into a carpeted powder room, complete with luxurious pink velvet curtains and floral and pink-tiled walls.
On the stereo: Sounds like your bogan dad's playlist. We tuned out, and other patrons glazed over replays of football on the screens dotted around the bar.
Room for improvement: We appreciate they're limited by the building's heritage status, but the segregated rooms with brown wood on brown wood decor are less than inspired.
The perfect spot for: an afternoon drink when the sun's out. The outdoor tables and rooftop bar would have been great if it hadn't been raining.
Most redeeming feature: Their drinks list is quite impressive. Next time, we'll definitely grab a few different tasting paddles to find our favourites.
