Tinder users looking for love were tricked in to swiping right by an attractive female robot.
People using the popular dating app at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas over the weekend came across a pretty 25-year-old woman named Ava. As AdWeek reported their friend, known only as Brock, matched with the woman who didn't give much away on her profile.
Soon they were having a casual conversation via text message.
The ice-breakers suddenly got quite serious.
The conversation continued.
Ending with a final cryptic message.
When Brock opened up Ava's Instagram page it featured just one photo and video - both promoting a new sci-fi flick Ex Machina, premiering at SXSW. The link in her bio went to the film's website.
'Ava' was actually Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who plays an artificial intelligence in the movie. Her Tinder profile turned out to be an advertisement, leaving Brock "crestfallen".
"It toyed with my emotions so hard," he told AdWeek.
