A man was hospitalised and needed about 200 stitches after being attacked in Paraparaumu.
Police are investigating the alleged serious assault that occurred in Mazengarb Rd, at around midnight on Saturday January 21.
A 20-year-old man sustained a large laceration to his side and was taken to hospital in astable condition where he required about 200 stitches.
Police have charged a 32 year-old man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter.
Police are asking assistance from the public who may have found a knife in the area around Mazengarb Rd, Te Atiawa Park, the Manly St beachfront, or Paraparaumu Beach golf course.
The knife is possibly a craft knife or is similar in nature.
