Fans of Hiddleston's character Jonathan Pine - a former British soldier, turned hotel night manager, turned spy - think he is a perfect fit.
But it would appear that if Hiddleston knows what's good for him, he'll stay well away.
The FiveThirtyEight graphs show the effect Bond has had on actors' careers, and it's not good.
Including some of the more-famous Bond identities, like Sean Connery (seven films), Pierce Brosnan (four films), and Roger Moore (seven films), the actors averaged just over 6.5 on IMDB before they took up the role of Bond.
That average dropped to 6.29 while they played the part, and just over 6 afterwards.
The average number of roles they appeared in also decreased during this time - from just under 2 a year before Bond, to 1.5 during, to under 0.6 a year afterwards.
As the UK Independent explained, this could also be down to the actors coming out of the Bond franchise older and a lot richer.
Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy have all been mentioned as possible replacements for Craig.
