What is Loading Docs?

LOADING DOCS is a trailblazing new initiative designed to fund, create and distribute innovative New Zealand documentary shorts and showcase New Zealand's documentary filmmaking talent both locally and on the world stage.

After a rigorous selection process, 10 talented Kiwi filmmakers have been chosen to make 3-minute short documentaries on an eclectic range of subjects, all united by the theme of 'home'.

Before filmmaking can begin, each of the 10 filmmakers has been set a challenge - they must raise $2,000 on New Zealand crowdfunding site

Developing a strong relationship with audiences and promoting work online is now an essential aspect of filmmaking and the month-long crowdfunding campaign ending on March 4, provides filmmakers with a unique platform to reach out to audiences even before production has begun.

The films represent a vast range of subjects, themes and styles from wildlife to waiata,
animation to adventure sports; all with a unique take on the theme of home.

shorts.

Loading Docs has been made with the support of The New Zealand Film
Commission and NZ On Air's Ignite Digital Media Fund.

WHO WE ARE

Julia Parnell, the company director of Notable Pictures, is an award-winning producer and documentary director. In addition to producing and directing acclaimed television documentaries such as Prime Rocks: The Exponents, Restoring Hope and the series Both Worlds, Julia has produced a number of dramatic shorts including Friday Tigers, winner of the NZ International Film Festival Best New Zealand Short Film award 2013.

Anna Jackson is a creative producer and academic researcher with a background in public relations and film outreach. She is currently completing a PhD on innovation and change in New Zealand's documentary production ecology. Anna is the founder of Transmedia NZ, a contributor to The Big Idea and a passionate advocate for documentary innovation and transmedia storytelling.
