Outrageous Fortune for kids? NZ on Air has announced its latest funding decision, confirming its love affair with Westies will continue for another year.
Wilde Ride has been commissioned for six half-hour episodes for TVNZ 2.
It tells the story of a young girl from a wealthy family who isorphaned and finds herself being adopted by her Westie relatives, where she has to swap horses for dirt bikes.
It has been granted $974,798 from NZoA's Platinum fund.
Wilde Ride will be joined by the true story inspired Herbert: The Brave Sea Dog, about the daring rescue of a dog after it is swept off a yacht in the Marlborough Sounds, which has received $199,999 for a two hour telemovie.
NZoA chief executive Jane Wrightson said she was delighted with the funding body's new commissions.
"Stories by and about New Zealanders are important to our cultural connection, especially for children," she said.
A fourth season of Prime's crime drama The Brokenwood Mysteries has also been commissioned, the first local scripted show to reach four seasons since Go Girls.
It received $3.6 million in funding, a $400,000 decrease from the first three seasons.

TV3's comedy slate will be back as well, receiving funding for a third season of Funny Girls and two Comedy Gala specials.
The shows will air in 2017, and join other local television highlights such as Filthy Rich, Jono and Ben and 7 Days.
