Watch: Soul star Teeks covers classic Bic Runga hit Drive

To wrap up NZ Music Month, catch Kiwi soul sensation Teeks performing his single Change, and a cover of Bic Runga's classic hit Drive, as part of an exclusive video series for TimeOut Entertainment.

The Music Month Sessions, made with support from New Zealand on Air, has featured Teeks and four other Kiwi acts, who each recorded a cover of their favourite Kiwi songs as well as one of their own hits.

What makes this cover even more impressive, is that Northlander Teeks only just heard Drive for the first time days before coming in to record it.

"I don't know if I should say this but to be honest, I actually heard this song for the first time about a week ago," he laughed, explaining his song choice.

"I mean, possibly I heard it subconsciously at another time, but I didn't realise what it was ... but the first time properly, really listening to the song [was] last week."

But like many of us, he was taken with the song instantly.

"Straight away I was like, it's a beautiful song and I wanted to sing it. Bic Runga, she's an incredible writer, an amazing composer and of all her songs that was probably the only one I hadn't heard - I don't know [how I missed it]. But I like the lyrical content and the way the song makes you feel, just the acoustic vibe of it...it's beautiful."
