This is part of the new generation of current affairs and infotainment at TV3, which is promising to deliver "news, entertainment, pop culture and assorted absurdities".
Hosted by David Farrier and Samantha Hayes, the show will recap the day's big news stories, much as Nightline did, but it won't be delivered in such a formal fashion.
Hayes and Farrier will add their own voice to the stories, presenting new angles as they develop, and making sure there's room for irreverence where there needs to be.
"Ever rolled your eyes at the news?" asks Hayes. "We have, and we don't think we should disguise that. That's not to say we'll be joking about every news story; but we will have a laugh when we feel the need to."
It will also diverge from traditional news to wider topics of conversation, and pieces that might take their cue from social media or Farrier and Hayes' own tastes.
"It's called Newsworthy because it's based around news and it will be worthy. But the 'worthy' is also a nod and a wink to the sort of stuff I do, which often isn't considered traditionally newsworthy," Farrier explains. "Lots of people, like me, are interested in metal bands, cat videos, Jurassic Park and pop culture and comedians."
The pair have remained firm friends since they first met on Nightline nine years ago, so the audience can look forward to a relaxed dynamic between the co-hosts, and Farrier seems to think his inexperience in such a role should provide some humour.
"It will be weird for me as I've never really presented before and she's a total bloody pro. Get ready for some lols."
