They'll play on a line-up that includes Kendrick Lamar, The National, Cold War Kids, Fat Freddy's Drop, Modest Mouse, Shapeshifter and Action Bronson.
Also confirmed today is the line-up for the Tavern of Power, Golden Dawn's pop-up bar that will see the Ponsonby favourite venture offsite for the first time in its five-year history.
Festival organiser Campbell Smith says the bar will include a series of live acts that will "pay homage to the late, lamented Lilyworld" at the Big Day Out.
It has been given the best space on the Western Springs site, with bar owner Matthew Crawley saying the line-up is full of "surprises and wonder".
It includes familiar faces Delaney Davidson and Hopetoun Brown, with the Carnivorous Plant Society, Pater Baecker, Shab Orkestra, Storehouse Blues, David Correos, Joseph Harper, Paul Amos and others also scheduled to make an appearance.
