E! News reported Chalamet also acknowledged his fellow nominees Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton, Michael B. Jordan, Ethan Hawke and Wagner Moura during his speech.
He went on to praise Josh Safadie who directed Marty Supreme, a film that tells the 1950s story of Marty Mauser, an ambitious table tennis player from New York.
“You made a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream and you didn’t preach to the audience about what’s right and wrong,” Chalamet said.
“We should all be telling stories like that. So, thank you for this dream.”
Comedian Chelsea Handler hosted the awards, held in Santa Monica, California.
Extra TV reported Chalamet and Jenner did not walk the red carpet as they arrived later in the evening.
It marked Chalamet’s first Critics Choice Awards win after three previous nominations – two for best actor for A Complete Unknown in 2024, Call Me By Your Name in 2018 and one for best supporting actor for Beautiful Boy in 2019.
