Katie, Aimee and Megan missed out on Adele's Tuesday Pre-Sales now they get a second chance. ...

Adele has confirmed her superstar status by doing something no other artist has done - selling out three shows at Mt Smart Stadium.

And she did it in under two hours.

The chart-busting UK singer today broke the record for the most shows sold out at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium on one tour.

The ticket-buying frenzy started at midday when tickets for two Adele shows - on Thursday, March 23 and Saturday, March 25 - went on sale and sold out in just 23 minutes.

At 12.30pm, a third show was announced for Sunday, March 26, with tickets going on sale immediately. They sold out in under an hour.

The only tickets available now are VIP packages. TradeMe is removing anyone listing Adele tickets as tickets aren't being sent to buyers until February and their rules and conditions state "you must have possession of the item you're selling".

Promoters won't comment on whether a fourth show is possible.

The shows are the first time an artist has been booked to play three shows in one tour at the South Auckland stadium, with more than 40,000 people expected at each show.

Adele, who released her chart-busting album 25 last year, will perform on a circular stage in the middle of the stadium, designed to "create intimacy," promoters said.

When tickets went on sale at midday today, fans began raging as huge demand for the Hello singer's first New Zealand tour caused the Ticketmaster website to crawl.

Fans quickly turned to Twitter to complain about 20 minute queues on Ticketmaster's website.

Is there any tickets left in any price range? Site is still "searching" after 23 minutes!!

@Ticketmaster_NZ i got through for Adele but card expiry dates only went up to April 2019... nothing for May - December! Is this fixed?

      — Darian Lawrie (@djlawrie) November 23, 2016

Ticketmaster sent warnings to fans that they shouldn't refresh the site even if it is going slowly, as it might cause them to lose their place in line.

Adele's New Zealand shows will be the final stops on her 2017 world tour.

After months of rumours, they were first announced last Friday when Adele posted a handwritten message to Instagram.

Adele is touring her third album, 25, which quickly became the highest selling album of 2015 when it was released last November.

The first music video from the album, Hello, became the fastest video to get 1 billion views in 24 hours.

Adele released her first album, 19, to acclaim in 2008, but achieved international attention with her follow-up, 21, and the emotional ballad Someone Like You.
