According to the local Gold Coast Bulletin Hiddleston said he wanted to "come out and say thanks" after the production "shut down their city centre".
"The fans have been really patient and well-behaved while we were filming and we appreciate this," he said.
Waititi celebrated his 41st birthday on Saturday and according to the Bulletin he joked with fans about working with Hemsworth and Hiddleston saying they "are very difficult to deal with... they are just like tall muscular children."
It's been five years since Hiddleston and Hemsworth first worked together on the original Thor film and to celebrate Hiddleston shared a #tb (throwback) photo of the pair.
