The Weeknd catches fire in his new video for Can't Feel My Face.
A music video director has accused The Weeknd of plagiarising his fiery video for smash hit Can't Feel My Face.
Mitch Moore claims there are "uncanny" similarities between Can't Feel My Face and an unreleased clip he directed for Canadian duo Majical Cloudz.
Moore says the framing and editing inCan't Feel My Face is extremely similar to his video, and posted an Instagram video that he claimed proved it.
The Weeknd, also from Canada, releases his third album Beauty Behind the Madness this week. Can't Feel My Face was a smash hit when it was released in June.
The video shows Abel Tesfaye dancing on a stage in front of a small crowd, before catching fire and fleeing the stage.
As reported by NME.com, Moore called the similarities "uncanny".
"So about a year ago, I directed a video for Majical Cloudz. Because of creative differences, it never came out. But the production was large, and many feedback emails were sent out with private uploads of the edit," he wrote.
"It's come to my attention that some body at the helm of a certain mega popular video must have seen one or more of these unreleased edits. The resemblance is too uncanny. My mind is a mansion of creativity, so this petty theft is nbd to me."
