The television finalists have been announced for this year's Qantas Film & Television awards. Both film and television awards will be presented together at a red-carpet event on September 18.

The finalists for the film categories will be released tomorrow.

TV One will screen the awards the following night, Sunday
September 19 at 11.30pm.

Both the coverage and the awards night itself will be hosted by Rhys Darby. The theme is to do with "50 years of TV".

While the format of the TV coverage has yet to be determined, general manger of programming at TVNZ, Jane Wilson, said "it won't be from a hotel room".
