"We didn't recognise her but we had bought Mya a T-shirt the night before and Taylor noticed it," Carl Taylor told the Herald.
"Mya looked up at the right time and Taylor gave her the thumbs up. She was like 'do you want to have a chat?' She was just talking to the kids, asking if they enjoyed the concert."
Carl Taylor said the singer's down-to-earth personality and friendly demeanor made the experience unforgettable.
There was no pomp and circumstance surrounding her arrival, no invasive paparazzi - just three bodyguards who were more than happy to allow the meeting.
"She was a nice person, she was a lot taller than I thought. She was all alone, just trying to blend in.
"One word I would use to describe her is beautiful, she was very genuine, very interested in the children."
Mya was a "huge" fan of Swift and had the singer's 1989 CD on repeat at home.
She was excited to share the story, though some were skeptical that she really got to meet the blonde beauty.
"Friends thought it was an impersonator; they didn't believe us," Carl Taylor said.
