Those looking for love on the series will take part in a number of activities, carefully chosen based on research which shows that naturally occurring attraction can be accelerated by forcing willing participants into unusually intimate scenarios.
Questions flash up on a screen in front of the pair, supposedly accelerating intimacy between them.
"Psychological research suggests that attraction can be accelerated by answering increasingly intimate questions within a tight 30 minute time frame," the online application asserts.
After the encounter, the two contestants are then asked whether or not they'd like to continue with their date.
With TVNZ already working on a version of First Dates - a show which films couples dining together for the first time - it might not be long before we see Kiwis doing the same thing.
