MTV is still holding out hope the Snoop Dogg will be allowed into the country.
"It's not over yet," said MTV managing director Dave Sibley.
"Our position is that the process allows for us to provide a bit more information to the authorities and we're still hopeful we'llbe able to crack this so Snoop will be able to perform at the awards."
Mr Sibley said MTV would provide authorities with further information in regard to the rapper's character and background.
"We did have him here a couple of months ago so we hope that could stand in our favour," he said.
"The main issue for us is that Australian music fans may miss out on seeing one of their favourite acts perform."
While Mr Sibley wouldn't disclose the financial loss MTV Australia would incur should Snoop Dogg not be able to enter the country, he said it had taken several months of organisation to confirm his appearance.
"As happens with many of these big celebrities, their schedules are arranged months in advance so we've been discussing this for some time," he said.
"We're mindful this process has to be undertaken and we'll graciously accept whatever the final decision may be."
Snoop Dogg's involvement in the show was only confirmed last week and was supposed to have been a last minute surprise addition to the bill which includes The Black Eyed Peas' singer Fergie and pop-punk band Good Charlotte as hosts.
Mr Sibley said the delay on the announcement had nothing to do with speculation over whether the rapper would be granted a visa.
"Snoop is a big friend of MTV Australia and quite often it's not until the last minute that visas are sorted out," he said.
"If anyone is the most disappointed about this it would be Snoop, he loves coming out here.
