Sky TV screw-up leaves Game of Thrones fans hanging

Game of Thrones fans using Sky's streaming site Neon were sent into a panic last night after the show wouldn't play on some devices.

Episode 4 of Season 7, The Spoils of War, was set to air through the streaming service as soon as it had shown overseas.

But at 7.15pm Neon posted on Facebook: "Some of you might be having issues playing the latest episode of Game of Thrones if you're trying to stream using Chromecast, PlayStation or the Samsung Smart TV app.

"We know how frustrating this is as we've been hanging out to watch the latest episode too.

"We're working like crazy to get this sorted for you and will keep you updated when this is fixed."

Just before 8.30pm the service was restored. Neon apologised for the delay, adding "Please don't send us to the Wall".

But that was too late for many users, who said they would be cancelling their accounts.

"Send you to the wall? It isn't a joke!," wrote one. "Your service is absolute shite, your social media people are taking the piss. It has been freezing throughout the whole episode. This isn't what we pay for."

Many were using Neon's 30-day free trial but said they would not be paying for a subscription at the end.

Others had paid for the service purely so they could watch the medieval fantasy show and said they would have been better off streaming it illegally.

One said she had had "nothing but problems over the last four weeks since joining and now we have had enough! Goodbye Neon".

"I don't understand how you could have obtained the contract for such a massive show, when you can't even support its audience. Absolute rubbish," another poster wrote.

The incident follows a Sky TV user's Facebook post that went viral after he compared the service to a money-hungry ex.
