FreemantleMedia also owns the Got Talent, Idol, and X-Factor formats, as well as Project Runway, Family Feud, and more.
The company's executive vice president of global acquisitions and development, Vasha Wallace said the Kiwi show is "exactly what we know broadcasters are looking for".
"It's high volume, cost-effective and has been successful with consistently strong ratings," she says.
"It's a wonderfully warm show, a lot of fun to watch and suitable for the whole family. We are thrilled to be working with a producer of Bailey [Mackey]'s calibre and New Zealand has a well-deserved reputation as being a highly creative market."
Sidewalk Karaoke, created and produced by Bailey Mackey's Pango Productions, takes karaoke to the streets and gives members of the public the chance to win $1000.
All they have to do is score high enough against a specially made app, which judges singers on speed, pitch and tone.
Mackey says he's "confident FremantleMedia is the right strategic partner to help grow our brand".
"Their track record in talent shows is the best in the world but mostly they are incredibly passionate about what they do."
Sidewalk Karaoke airs on Maori TV, Thursdays at 8.30pm.
