New Zealand's stalwart soap opera Shortland Street is the most popular show in the country, narrowly edging Coronation Street in this week's Freeview Awards.
In the survey of more than 4300 New Zealanders, Shortland Street had a winning margin of 35 votes for best TV show.
US drama Revenge took out the third spot.
Freeview general manager Sam Irvine said the results were good news for homegrown television.
"As Kiwis we like to see ourselves on TV, hear our accent and watch characters who deal with the same issues in life as we do.
"The voting for the awards proves that we have a strong appetite for well-made, locally-produced content," he said.
The survey also asked people to vote for their favourite channel on Freeview, with TV1 taking out top spot, followed by TV2 and then Choice TV.
