British comedian Russell Brand stormed the TVNZ newsroom this afternoon.
He then shoved a cupcake into a reporter's mouth and left shortly after.
TVNZ reported everything was business as usual in the newsroom, when all of a sudden a "loud, tall and sweaty man" ran in off the street shouting, "I've got 21 minutes, who would like to interview me?"
The man turned out to be Brand, and the opportunity to talk to him was quickly pounced on by Breakfast reporter Lisette Reymer.
"He wanted to see where all the life was in the newsroom," said Reymer.
After a 21-minute interview where Brand answered none of the questions Reymer put to him, she remarked he was "very physical, very full on, very intense, very hard to focus, a free spirit, everything you would imagine him to be except taller."
Brand then apparently took a shine to traffic reporter Selena Hawkins, who he clung to for 10 seconds before shoving a cupcake in her mouth because she was "too tiny."
"He was intense, crazy and a bit creepy," Hawkins said.
Brand is in Auckland for his Trew World Order comedy show, which is on tomorrow night at the Vector Arena.
