“Ever since my first solo tours, you have welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home,” he said.
Williams last performed on our shores in 2023, playing two shows at Mission Estate Winery in Napier.
The hitmaker holds the record for the most No 1 albums for a solo artist in Britain, with 16, including this year’s critically acclaimed release Britpop.
Williams described the album’s sound as a return to his 1990s pop roots.
“I set out to create the album that I wanted to write and release after I left Take That in 1995,” he said, calling the era a “golden age for British Music”.
He previously revealed he had a “complicated relationship” with touring and performing live because of anxiety.
“People say, ‘Oh, you going on tour? You must be really, really excited.’ Not really. I’m terrified,” he told the I’m ADHD! No You’re Not podcast in October.
“I will look full of bravado and look pompous and look smug and do these grand gestures... But actually what’s happening is I feel like the opposite of that all the time, most of the time.”
However, he said he has been able to better manage his condition with age.
“I would say it’s gotten better from 45 onwards. This particular tour that I’m now in, I’m very pleased to say, for me, is that I’m dead excited to do my show.”
Williams said he was looking forward to his return Downunder.
“I’m immensely proud of this as a body of work and I’m excited for fans to hear this album.”
His last top 10 album in New Zealand was 2019’s The Christmas Present.
