"You all know the environmental impact fashion has on our planet. Can you believe that five hundred million plastic bags are used across the world every year and only onepercent is returned and recycled?" says tutor Andre Mikellis to the designers.

"Your challenge is to design a unique print on the New World reusable shopping bag campaign. The winner will get their design printed on their limited edition shopping bags that will be in stores nationwide."
Sounds simple enough – but there's a hell of a twist.
Fan favourite Benjamin created a baby pink flowing silk gown with a heavily embellished with flowers. Fowler loved the look and commented saying it was "very Chanel."

Master pattern-maker Kerry created an intriguing blue and yellow striped v-neck dress. He has immunity from elimination this week, so he decided "to have fun" with his freedom and designed something he thought was "unusual".

22-year-old handbag designer Camille made a bright fuschia-coloured silk dress with a wonky circle cut out at the back. It didn't fit the model very well, but that didn't seem to worry the judges.

Self-taught designer Judy created a beautiful high necked red halter dress with embellished with rose petals and a peek-a-boo hole under the breast region. It also had pockets and she says she thought her model "looked a million dollars".

38-year-old alternative education mentor Massey created a two-piece grey suit and says he "produced something I am happy with" however was "nervous that I missed the brief". We were nervous too, mate. It did not look very red carpet to us.
Party in the front? Business at the back?
Retail assistant Caitlin created a dramatic crimson floaty strapless dress complete with a neck scarf. She did say "I wish I had made it full length." But we think it's delightful!

Pin-up girl Beth created an aqua cocktail mermaid dress with a bizarre zip-off grey and purple material just dangling out the bottom.

The model removed the extra material and left it on the side of the stage.

Peni made a shiny black and burgundy outfit with cutouts and a large – Maleficent-style collar. He said he "had Cardi B in mind" when he was designing this red carpet look.
Here to slay.
Beau created a cream and gold gown that held the gazes of judges Sally-Ann and Georgia, for all the wrong reasons. His model could hardly walk in the fitted skirt and tutor Andre had previously said it was "too bridal."
Misty's outfit was a yellow and black mess. She admitted that "I am so totally and completely unsatisfied with my garment... It turned out to be like a runover banana." Sorry babes, but we have to agree with you on that one.

WINNERS AND LOSERS:
Gown designer Judy won the challenge fair and square with her timeless red floor length dress that brought drama and skill to the competition.

Massey was sent to pack his bags and head home to Christchurch.
"You missed the brief, you tried to make a statement but it was a failed attempt," said Georgia.
"I took a gamble and I wasn't able to secure it, I did the best I could within the timeframe," said Massey.
