She'd only just received her award but Gin Wigmore managed to break her Tui just minutes after stepping off stage.
Wigmore had just won the Best Female Solo Artist gong for her recent album Blood To Bone when she decided to celebrate with fellow winner Marlon Williams, who had taken home the Best Male Solo Artist Award.
She did this by "cheersing" him - banging her golden Tui trophy into his.
But Wigmore's award came off second best when hers snapped in two.
"I broke my bloody award," Wigmore said afterwards, brandishing the two parts of her Tui.
"I cheersed Marlon because I was so happy for him."
During her acceptance speech, Wigmore sparked waves of laughter by engaging in some friendly banter with one of the other nominees, Anika Moa.
She shouted a friendly "up yours Anika" before flipping her the bird. Moa responded by flipping Wigmore back and laughing.
Wigmore's award breakage had one punter asking if it would be replaced within 24 hours as Sonny Bill Williams' was when he gifted it to a young pitch invader after the Rugby World Cup final.
