No New Zealand shows for Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen will not play any shows in New Zealand next year.

The rock legend has been the subject of rumours about possible New Zealand concert dates for months.

He was first linked to the headliner slot at The Mission concert in Napier, but the gig went to Barry Gibb.

It was then believed he could play shows at Vector Arena and Christchurch as part of the world tour for his album Wrecking Ball.

Frontier Touring Company put the rumours to rest on Tuesday when it announced on Facebook the tour would not be extended beyond already-announced dates on the east coast of Australia.

"The production for this tour is considerable and it is both time consuming and costly to move it from one city to the next within a short space of time.

"As the tour can only be in the country for a certain period of time it has therefore been limited to the east coast of Australia."

The company said the Australia shows were deliberately booked over Easter so Springsteen fans could travel to attend.

"There is absolutely no disrespect or lack of love for these other cities but in the end the crucial thing was finding a time period to bring Bruce and the E Street Band out to Australia that worked in with their other commitments."
