Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has shared an emotional tribute to his voice coach and fellow actor Andrew Jack after he died from the coronavirus in London.
Jack played the role of Resistance Major Caluan Ematt in both Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII– The Force Awakens and was a voice and dialect coach.
He died on March 31 after contracting coronavirus while in London, while his wife Gabrielle Rogers was forced into isolation in Brisbane after returning from New Zealand.
Hemsworth is one of several stars who have paid tribute to Jack, including Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill.
"I worked on a number of films with him over the years and he was the best dialect/voice coach in game and was beyond instrumental in helping shape me as an actor.
"My love and support goes out to his family and to anyone and everyone who is struggling during this time. Sending everyone across the globe love and compassion. Peace."
Jack's wife Gabrielle opened up about his death in an emotional interview with Seven News, saying she was haunted by the fact he died after spending days alone on their UK houseboat.
"He was very loved," she said of her husband. She said he died "really quickly," just 40 hours after being admitted to hospital.
"Nearly every day he was communicating with somebody … but he was such an actor so he would present so well," she said.
In the tear-jerking interview she described being unable to attend her husband's funeral but said she knew the spot where he would be buried and the family would hold an online memorial for him.
"When you're grieving in four walls, the opportunity to connect even if just digitally is really great," she said.
