Deep Water: The Real Story (TVNZ OnDemand)

Deep Water follows the story behind a wave of murders in Sydney in the 1980s and 1990s, which targeted young homosexual men. Individual stories are woven together through interviews, re-enactments and the piecing together of facts. By shedding light on many of the deaths, which were recorded as being 'unsolved', 'suicide' or 'death by misadventure', this documentary hopes new evidence will emerge. Modern Family, season 8 (Lightbox)

Everyone's favourite dysfunctional family is back. The Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan reunite after summer holidays for another year's hilarity. This season sees Manny and Luke fumble through senior year, Alex juggle life at college and Haley begin her new path as an entrepreneur. Meanwhile Gloria, Phil and Cam form a secret alliance to conceal their mistakes from their spouses. Season 8 is available to stream from Wednesday.

The Newsroom, seasons 1-3 (Neon)

Created and written by The West Wing's Aaron Sorkin, The Newsroom is a fast-paced, witty series which takes you behind the scenes of a fictional television newsroom. News anchor Will McAvoy has his newsroom tipped upside down after he returns from enforced leave following a spontaneous public outburst that went viral. The cynical McAvoy is forced to work with new staff in the changing news environment. Available to stream from Monday.

American Vandal, season 2 (Netflix)

With season 1 viewed by some as the greatest show of 2017, it's no surprise the mockumetary it back for another round. The first season followed two high school nerds as they relentlessly investigated who had vandalised the teachers' parking lot, by spray-painted penises on their cars. Season 2 sees the boys put their investigative skills to the test again, this time to track down the Turd Burglar terrorising the school. Season 2 is available from tomorrow.
