In the first episode of Game of Thrones season 7, Euron Greyjoy made it to King's Landing where he looks set to make some major waves.

The actor who plays him, Pilou Asbaek made waves of his own in an interview with the Independent, in which he promised: "After this season, Ramsay [Bolton]'s gonna look like a little kid".

Asbaek says Euron knows his niece and nephew (Yara and Theon) are joining Daenerys, so he needs an ally as much as the Lannisters do - that's why he's there, laying on the charm. But it's not all what it seems.

"He's a fearless psycho pirate, there's no denying that," says Asbaek.

"But it's my job...to make him charming and seductive and interesting. He's not just evil. He's evil with a little smile. When he meets Cersei for the first time in the throne room he's a charmer.

"There's this wonderful line where he says, 'Ever since I was a boy I always wanted to grow up and marry the most beautiful woman in the world, so here I am with a thousand ships.' Then I look at Jaime Lannister and say, 'And two good hands.'"

Not only is Euron Cersei's answer to the threats surrounding her, but he's a threat in himself - to Yara and Theon and to Jaime.

"[Jaime's] not pleased! There's this new contender who thinks he's it. Maybe Cersei isn't interested in him as a person but surely she's interested in his fleet. She can see that he is a key player," says Asbaek.

And once Cersei saw it, the fandom did too:
