Alice Cooper is coming back to New Zealand to celebrate his first show here - a whopping 40 years ago.

The legendary rocker will play two shows here: October 27 at Trusts Stadium in Auckland, and October 28 at TSB Bank Arena in Wellington.

Founding Kiss member Ace Frehley will appear at both shows.

Cooper has been a regular New Zealand visitor since his first show here in 1977, and has played here 13 times. He was last here in 2015.

October's shows will mark 40 years since that first appearance.

A fan club pre-sale begins on April 20, with tickets going on general release on April 28.
